Abstract

|
C-Reactive Protein(CRP) is the most sensitive acute phase reactant which responds to surgical trauma.
The seurum CRP begins to rise within 6 hours and peaks on 24-48 hours after surgery. CRP level declines on 3rd postoperative day and returns to preoperative CRP level on 4th-6th postoperative day in noncomplicated surgical cases. Erythrocyte Sedimentation Rate (ESR) begins to rises within 12 hours and maintains an increased level.
On 6th postoperative day the ESR dose not return to preoperative ESR level except one case.
